30th Celebration: What to Buy in the Final 48 Hours Before Oct 2
By Dexhaul Team · September 30, 2026
Oct 2 is two days away.
The 30th Celebration set launched September 16 and the first two weeks have redrawn the value map. Wave 1 ETBs sold out before launch day. Futuristic Rare prices fell from four-figure opening-day highs to a settled floor.
Two new products arrive on Oct 2: the Booster Bundle and the Mini Tins. This is the honest breakdown of what is worth buying, what to skip, and where the market currently stands.
BUY: 30th Celebration Booster Bundle
The Booster Bundle is the best-value entry point on Oct 2 and the product most likely to remain at or near MSRP after launch.
Six packs at a $79.99 MSRP works out to $13.33 per pack. The floor listing currently sits at $84.95 from MHDEALSPLUS, with most sellers ranging from $90 to $120. At the floor, per-pack cost is $14.16.
The structural reason this product behaves differently from Wave 1 ETBs is distribution channel. Wave 1 ETBs moved through specialty retail with pre-allocated quantities locked by distributors before September. Mass-market retail channels, the same path used by Battle Decks and blister packs, have no equivalent allocation cap.
That is the reason ETBs sold out and Booster Bundles will not follow the same pattern on Oct 2.
BUY: Mini Tin (specifically on Oct 2 in-store)
The Mini Tin is a BUY with one important condition: the value calculation changes significantly if you plan to visit a GWP-participating retailer in person on Oct 2.
Random design Mini Tins list from $25.99 (Collector Store LLC) to $36–$43 for named character designs. Each tin contains two booster packs, a foil sticker, and a foil art card. At the $25.99 floor that is $13 per pack, matching the Booster Bundle per-pack cost in a smaller quantity.
The GWP trigger is the variable that shifts the math. GameStop, Best Buy, Hot Topic, and Barnes & Noble in the US, and EB Games, JB Hi-Fi, BIG W, and Toymate in Australia all offer the Mewtwo SVP052 Illustration Rare promo free with any in-store purchase of $15 or more on Oct 2. A single Mini Tin at GameStop clears that threshold.
The combined return is two packs, the sticker, the art card, and the Mewtwo SVP052, which has traded between $46 and $48 on the secondary market. Buying the promo separately at secondary market prices costs more than triggering the GWP with a tin.
One note on character design premiums: a named tin runs 65% above the random floor for identical card contents. Both deliver the same two packs and accessories. The premium reflects collector preference for the specific design, not any difference in what you pull.
SKIP: Wave 2 ETBs
Wave 2 ETBs are priced at $179.95 to over $200. Nine packs at $179.95 is $20 per pack from the same 30th Celebration card pool as the Booster Bundle.
The Booster Bundle at $84.95 delivers six packs at $14.16 per pack. The Wave 2 ETB costs 41% more per pack for identical booster content. What the premium buys is the ETB packaging, the accessories insert (dice, damage counters, a coin), and the product-exclusive Nidorina full-art foil promo, which is not obtainable from packs.
If you need the Nidorina promo or want the ETB format specifically, the Wave 2 cost is what it costs. For pack access only, the Booster Bundle on Oct 2 is the rational choice.
CONSIDER: Poster Collection
The Poster Collection sits at $44.95 from MHDEALSPLUS and delivers something the Booster Bundle and Mini Tins do not: three product-exclusive foil promo cards.
The 30th Celebration Poster Collection bundles a large illustrated poster, four booster packs, and product-exclusive foil promos for Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres. These three cards are not pullable from any booster pack format in the set. They are only obtainable through this product.
For collectors targeting the Kanto legendary bird trio, the Poster Collection is the only single-purchase path to all three at $44.95. Four packs at that price works out to $11.24 per pack, cheaper per pack than the Booster Bundle, at half the pack count.
Futuristic Rare Status: Where the Floor Has Landed
A note for collectors watching Futuristic Rare entry timing ahead of Oct 2.
Mewtwo ex FUR 157/128 opened at $1,026 on September 16 and has stabilized to a raw floor of $73-$89. Mew ex FUR 158/128 holds at $117-$150. Both prices have been stable for several days.
The Oct 2 Booster Bundle adds new pack volume to the market, but FUR pull rates within the 30th Celebration set are low enough that the Booster Bundle launch is not expected to materially compress the current floor.
The $73-$89 Mewtwo ex FUR floor represents settled collector demand. It is not a price still declining from the $1,026 opening-day peak. Collectors who held off through the speculative launch window now have access to the settled market price rather than a compressed version of the speculation window.
